Is He Who is powerful to make them walk on their feet not powerful enough to make them walk upon their faces on the Day of Resurrection?

عن قتادة قال: حدثنا أنس بن مالك رضي الله عنه أن رجلًا قال: يا نبي الله، كيف يُحشر الكافر على وجهه؟ قال: «أليس الذي أمشاه على الرجلين في الدنيا قادرًا على أن يمشيه على وجهه يوم القيامة» قال قتادة: بلى وعزة ربنا.

Qatādah related: Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported to us: A man said: "O Prophet of Allah, how will the disbelievers be gathered on the Day of Resurrection upon their faces?" He said: "Is He Who is powerful to make them walk on their feet not powerful enough to make them walk upon their faces on the Day of Resurrection?" Qatādah said: "Yes, by the honor of our Lord!"

سأل رجلٌ النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال: يا نبي الله، كيف يُحشر الكافر على وجهه يوم القيامة؟ إشارة إلى قوله عز وجل: {ونحشرهم يوم القيامة على وجوههم عميًا وبكمًا وصمًّا} فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: أليس الذي جعله يمشي على رجلين في الدنيا، وهو الله تعالى، قادرًا على أن يجعله يمشي على وجهه يوم القيامة؟ قال قتادة: بلى، وأقسم بعزة الله سبحانه وتعالى أنه قادرٌ على ذلك.
A man asked the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him): O Prophet of Allah, how will the disbelievers be gathered upon their faces on the Day of Judgment? In reference to the verse that reads: {We will gather [and drag] them on their faces – deaf, dumb and blind} [Surat al-Isrā’: 97]. In reply, the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: Is He Who is powerful to make them walk on their feet - i.e., Allah Almighty - not powerful enough to make them walk upon their faces on the Day of Resurrection? Qatādah remarked: Yes! And he swore by honor of Allah Almighty that He is capable of doing that.

هوان الكافر يوم القيامة وأنه يمشي على وجهه. اختلاف الموازين والأحوال يوم القيامة. قدرة الله عز وجل على فعل كل شيء. أنه قيل في الحكمة مِن حشر الكافر على وجهه أنّه عُوقِب على عدم السّجود لله في الدّنيا بأن يُسحَب على وجهِه في يوم القيامة؛ إظّهارًا لِهوانه.
