14 إذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ طَعَامًا فَلا يَمْسَحْ يَدَهُ حَتَّى يَلْعَقَهَا أَوْ يُلْعِقَهَا
When anyone of you eats food, let him not wipe his hand until he licks it or has it licked.

عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رضي الله عنهما أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ: ««إذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ طَعَامًا فَلا يَمْسَحْ يَدَهُ حَتَّى يَلْعَقَهَا، أَوْ يُلْعِقَهَا».

Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When anyone of you eats food, let him not wipe his hand until he licks it or has it licked."

صحيح - ( متفق عليه ). Sahih/Authentic. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

أمر النَّبِي صلى الله عليه وسلم مَنْ أكل طَعَاماً ألا يَمْسَحَ يده أَو يغسلها حتى يَلْعَقَها أَو يُلْعِقَها، وقد جاءت علة هذا في بعض الروايات أَنَّهُ لا يَدْرِي في أيّ طَعامِه الْبَرَكَة، ومِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِك أَمَرَ النَّبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بِلَعْقِ الأَصَابِعِ فَلَعَلَّ الْبَرَكَة فِيمَا عَلِقَ بِها مِنْ الطَّعَام.
The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) ordered whoever eats not to wipe his hand or wash it until he licks it or has it licked. The reason for this, as some narrations state, is that one does not know where the blessing lies in the food. Therefore, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) ordered licking one's fingers, because the blessing may be in the traces of food on fingers.

لَعْقُ الْأَصَابِعِ، ومثلِه الإنَاء، لما فِيهِ مِنْ الْتِمَاسِ بَرَكَةِ الطَّعام التي لا يُعْلَم: هَلْ هِي في أَوَّلِهِ أَوْ آخِرِهِ ؟ وتَعْظِيمُ نِعَمِ الله، قَلِيلها و كثيرِها، وعَدَمُ التَّكَبُّرِ عَنْهَا. صَوْنُ نِعَمِ الله وحِفْظُهَا؛ لِئَلَّا تَقَع في مَوْضِعٍ قَذِرٍ نَجِسٍ، أَوْ تُهَانُ فِيهِ. النهي عن مسح الآكل يده بشيء قبل لعقها أو إلعاقها على الكراهة لا على التحريم والله أعلم.
