Fasting three days every month is fasting your entire lifetime

عن عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص رضي الله عنهما عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: «صَوْمُ ثلاثةِ أيامٍ من كُلِّ شهرٍ صَومُ الدَّهرِ كُلِّه».

‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Ās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Fasting three days every month is fasting your entire lifetime.”

صحيح - ( متفق عليه ). Sahih/Authentic. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

كان الصحابي الجليل عبد الله بن عمرو رضي الله عنهما قد أخذ بالعزيمة في الصوم وأراد أن يستمر عليها، فأرشده النبي -عليه الصلاة والسلام- أن يصوم من كل شهر ثلاثة أيام؛ لأنه يعدل صيام سنة كاملة في الأجر، وذلك لأن الحسنة بعشرة أمثالها، فتكون ثلاثين يوماً، فإذا صام من كل شهر ثلاثة أيام فكأنه صام الدهر كله.
The Companion ‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) adopted the approach of resolve with regard to fasting and intended to observe it continuously. So the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) instructed him to fast three days every month, because that equals fasting the entire year in reward. Since a good deed entails a reward ten times as much, the three days shall be 30 days in reward. Therefore, if a person fasts three days every month, it is as though he fasts his entire lifetime.

استحباب صيام ثلاثة أيام من كل شهر. صيام ثلاثة أيام من كل شهر كصيام الدهر كله، وذلك بمضاعفة الحسنات، فالحسنة بعشر أمثالها. من أساليب الدعوة إلى الله الترغيب في العمل وذكر ثوابه وثواب المواظبة عليه.
