874 مَنْ ترك اللباسَ تَوَاضُعًا لله، وهو يقدر عليه، دعاه اللهُ يومَ القيامةِ على رُؤُوسِ الخَلَائِقِ حتى يُخَيِّرُهُ مِنْ أَيِّ حُلَلِ الإِيمَانِ شَاءَ يَلْبَسُهَا
Whoever gives up wearing elegant expensive clothes out of humbleness with Allah, while he can afford it, Allah will call him on the Day of Judgment before all people and let him choose whichever of the garments of faith he would like to wear

عن معاذ بن انس رضي الله عنه مرفوعاً: «مَنْ ترك اللباسَ تَوَاضُعًا لله، وهو يقدر عليه، دعاه اللهُ يومَ القيامةِ على رُؤُوسِ الخَلَائِقِ حتى يُخَيِّرُهُ مِنْ أَيِّ حُلَلِ الإِيمَانِ شَاءَ يَلْبَسُهَا».

Mu‘ādh ibn Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever gives up wearing elegant expensive clothes out of humbleness with Allah, while he can afford it, Allah will call him on the Day of Judgment before all people and let him choose whichever of the garments of faith he would like to wear."

من ترك لبس الرفيع من الثياب تواضعاً لله وتركاً لزينة الحياة الدنيا، ولم يمنعه من ذلك عجزه عنه دعاه الله يوم القيامة على رؤوس الخلائق تشريفاً له، حتى يخيره من أي زينة أهل الجنة يريد أن يلبسها.
Whoever gives up wearing elegant clothes out of humbleness with Allah and abandonment of worldly adornment, while he can afford it, Allah will call him on the Day of Judgment before all people out of honor for him, and allow him to choose whichever of the adornments of the dwellers of Paradise he would like to wear.

فضل التواضع في اللباس، وعدم الترفع والتكبر فيه على الآخرين. الذي يترك اللباس تواضعاً لا بخلًا أو إظهاراً للزهد، كان له الأجر المنصوص عليه. شرط ترك اللباس تواضعاً أن يكون زهداً في الدنيا وعدم انشغاله بزينتها. لو عزم أحد على أنه لو كان قادراً على اللباس لأعرض عنه تواضعاً أثيب على نيته. تكفل الله عز وجل بتزيين من ترك الزينة من أجله.
