2154 يا أبا المنذر أتدري أي آية من كتاب الله معك أعظم؟
O Abu al-Mundhir, do you know which verse of Allah's Book that you have is greatest?

عن أبي بن كعب قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «يا أبا المنذر، أتدري أي آية من كتاب الله معك أعظم؟» قال: قلت: الله ورسوله أعلم. قال: «يا أبا المنذر أتدري أي آية من كتاب الله معك أعظم؟» قال: قلت: {الله لا إله إلا هو الحي القيوم} [البقرة: 255]. قال: فضرب في صدري، وقال: «والله ليهنك العلم أبا المنذر».

Ubayy ibn Ka‘b (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abu al-Mundhir, do you know which verse of Allah's Book that you have is greatest?" I replied: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "O Abu al-Mundhir, do you know which verse of Allah's Book that you have is greatest?" I said: {Allah: none has the right to be worshiped except Him, the Ever-Living, All-Sustaining} [Surat al-Baqarah: 255]. Thereupon, he struck me on the chest and said: "May knowledge be pleasant for you, O Abu al-Mundhir!"

قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: يا أبا المنذر، وهي كنية أبي بن كعب رضي الله عنه، وهو من علماء الصحابة، هل تدري أي آية من القرآن معك أعظم؟ فقال: أُبي بن كعب: الله ورسوله أعلم، فأعاد عليه النبي صلى الله عليه سلم السؤال مرة أخرى، ففهم أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يحب أن يسمع جوابه، وأن المقام مقام تعليم ومحاولة، فقال أُبي: {الله لا إله إلا هو الحي القيوم} فضرب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم على صدر أُبي، وقال: والله ليكن العلم هنيئًا لك يا أبا المنذر، وهذا دعاء منه صلى الله عليه وسلم لأُبي رضي الله عنه بتيسير العلم له ورسوخه فيه، وإنما ضربه صلى الله عليه وسلم في صدره؛ إشارة إلى انشراحه، وامتلائه علمًا وحكمةً.
The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Abu al-Mundhir! This is a surname for Ubayy ibn Ka‘b (may Allah be pleased with him), who was one of the scholars among the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). Do you know which verse of Allah's Book that you have is greatest? Ubayy ibn Ka‘b replied: Allah and His Messenger know best. The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) repeated the question, and Ubayy understood then that the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) wanted to hear his answer and the situation was intended for trying and teaching. So, he said: {Allah: none has the right to be worshiped except Him, the Ever-Living, All-Sustaining} [Surat al-Baqarah: 255]. Thereupon, the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) struck Ubayy on the chest and remarked: May knowledge be pleasant for you, O Abu al-Mundhir! This is a supplication for knowledge to be made easy for Ubayy and be firmly settled in him. He struck him on the chest as reference to the abundant knowledge and wisdom filling that chest.

فيه منقبة عظيمة لأبي بن كعب رضي الله عنه، حيث هنأه النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بكثرة علمه ودعا له. أدب أُبي بن كعب رضي الله عنه في إجابة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم. تنشيط المعلِّم لِمَن يعلِّمه إذا رآه أصاب، وتنويهه به، وسروره بما أدركه مِن ذلك. إلقاء المعلِّم على أصحابه المسائل؛ لاختبار معرفتهم. تبجيل العالم فضلاء أصحابه، وتكنيتهم. جواز مدح الإنسان في وجهه، إذا كان فيه مصلحة، ولم يَخَفْ عليه العجب، ونحوه. أنّ آية الكرسي أعظم آية في كتاب الله تعالى. في قوله صلى الله عليه وسلم: أيّ آية مِن كتاب الله معك أعظم؟ حجة للقول بجواز تفضيل بعض القرآن على بعض.
