2124 لا تقوم الساعة حتى يمر الرجل بقبر الرجل فيقول: يا ليتني مكانه
The Hour will not come until a man would pass by the grave of another man and say: I wish I were in his place

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: "لاَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يَمُرَّ الرَّجُلُ بِقَبْرِ الرَّجُلِ فَيَقُولُ: يَا لَيْتَنِي مَكَانَهُ".

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Hour will not come until a man would pass by the grave of another man and say: 'I wish I were in his place.'"

أخبر النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أن الساعة لن تقوم حتى يمر الرجل بقبر رجل ميت فيتمنى أن يكون ميتًا مكانه، والحامل له على التمني البلاء وكثرة الفتن، وتمنّي الموت عند ظهور الفتن إنما هو خوف ذهاب الدِّين بغلبة الباطل وأهله، وظهور المعاصي والمنكر، وتمني الموت إنما يكون محرَّمًا إذا كان بسبب الأضرار والمصائب؛ لأنه يدل على ضعف الإيمان بالقضاء والقدر، قال عليه الصلاة والسلام: (لا يتمنين أحدكم الموت لضرٍّ نزل به) متفق عليه.
The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) stated that the Hour will not come until a man would pass by the grave of another man and wish to be in his place, dead. His wish would be caused by the numerous afflictions and trials. When trials emerge, a person may wish to die out of fear that he may lose his religion because of the dominance of the untruth and its followers and the prevalence of sins and evil doing. A person is prohibited from wishing death because of hardships and adversities, for this indicates his weak faith in the divine decree and predestination. The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: "None of you should wish to die because of an adversity that has befallen him." [Narrated by Al-Bukhāri and Muslim]

الإخبار بظهور المعاصي والفتن آخر الزمان. جواز تمني الموت عند خوف ذهاب الدِّين أو ضعفه، لا لضررٍ ينزل في الجسم. بيان بعض علامات الساعة. أنه لا يلزم أن يكون هذا في كل بلد، وكل زمان، ولا في جميع النّاس.
