434 الجنة أقرب إلى أحدكم من شِرَاكِ نعله، والنار مثل ذلك
Paradise is nearer to one of you than his shoelace, and so is Hellfire

عن ابن مسعود رضي الله عنه قال: قال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم : «الجنة أقرب إلى أحدكُم من شِرَاكِ نَعْلِه، والنار مِثلُ ذلك».

Ibn Mas‘ūd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Paradise is nearer to one of you than his shoelace, and so is Hellfire."

يخبر النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أن الجنة والنار قريبان من الإنسان كقرب السير الذي يكون على ظهر القدم، وهو قريب من الإنسان جدًّا؛ لأنه قد يفعل طاعة من رضوان الله عز وجل لا يظن أنها تبلغ ما بلغت، فإذا هي توصله إلى جنة النعيم، وربما يفعل معصية لا يلقي لها بالاً، وهي من سخط الله، فيهوي بها في النار كذا وكذا من السنين وهو لا يدري.
The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said that Paradise and Hellfire are nearer to a person than the leather strap over his feet, which is so close to him. This is because a person may do an act that pleases Allah not thinking it will earn him a great reward, yet it takes him to the Garden of Bliss. Alternatively, a person may commit a sin to which he does not pay much attention, but it incurs the displeasure of Allah and causes him to sink deeply into Hell-fire for so many years – and he was unaware of that.

الطاعة موصلة إلى الجنة، والمعاصي تؤدي إلى النار. تحصيل الجنة سهل، إذا صح القصد وعملت الصالحات. الطاعة والمعصية قد تكون في أيسر الأشياء، فينبغي على المرء ألا يزهد في قليل من الخير فيعمله ولافي قليل من الشر فيجتنبه. الترغيب في قليل الخير وإن قلَّ، والترهيب عن قليل الشر وإن قل. ضرب الأمثلة لتقريب المراد للسامع.
Good deeds lead to Paradise while sins lead to Hellfire. Entering Paradise is easy if one has the right intent and do good deeds. Good deeds and sins can exist in the simplest of things. So, a person should not belittle doing simple pious acts or underest
