390 إن الشيطان يستحل الطعام أن لا يذكر اسم الله تعالى عليه، وإنه جاء بهذه الجارية؛ ليستحل بها، فأخذت بيدها، فجاء بهذا الأعرابي؛ ليستحل به، فأخذت بيده، والذي نفسي بيده، إن يده في يدي مع يديهما
Verily, the devil can eat from any food upon which the name of Allah is not mentioned. He brought this little girl to be able to eat, but I caught her hand. Then he brought this Bedouin to be able to eat, but I caught his hand too. By the One in whose Hand my soul is! His hand is in my grasp along with their hands

عن حذيفة بن اليمان رضي الله عنهما قال: كُنَّا إِذَا حَضَرنَا مَعَ رسُولِ الله -صلَّى الله عليه وسلَّم- طَعَامًا، لَم نَضَع أَيدِينَا حَتَّى يَبدَأ رسول الله -صلَّى الله عليه وسلَّم- فَيَضَع يَدَهُ، وَإِنَّا حَضَرنَا مَعَه مَرَّةً طَعَامًا، فَجَاءَت جَارِيَةٌ كَأَنَّها تُدفَعُ، فَذَهَبَت لِتَضَعَ يَدَهَا فِي الطَّعَام، فَأَخَذَ رسُول الله -صلَّى الله عليه وسلَّم- بِيَدِهَا، ثُمَّ جاء أعرابي كأَنَّمَا َيُدْفَع، فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ، فقال رسول الله -صلَّى الله عليه وسلَّم-: «إِنَّ الشَّيطَانَ يَستَحِلُّ الطَّعَامَ أَن لاَ يُذْكَرَ اسمُ الله -تَعَالَى- عَلَيه، وَإِنَّهُ جَاءَ بِهَذِهِ الجَّارِيَة؛ لِيَستَحِلَّ بِهَا، فَأَخَذتُ بِيَدِهَا؛ فَجَاءَ بِهَذَا الأَعرَابِي؛ لِيَسْتَحِلَّ بِهِ، فَأَخَذتُ بِيَدِهِ، والَّذِي نَفسِي بِيَدِهِ، إِنَّ يَدَهُ فِي يَدِي مَعَ يَديهِمَا»، ثُمَّ ذَكَر اسمَ الله -تعَالى- وَأَكَلَ.

Hudhayfah ibn al-Yamān (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: When we attended a meal with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), we would not extend our hands until the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) would start and extend his hand. Once we attended a meal with him and a little girl came in rushing as if she was being pushed forward. She was about to put her hand into the food when the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) caught her hand. Then a Bedouin came in rushing as if he was being pushed forward. he caught his hand too. Then the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Verily, the devil can eat from any food upon which the name of Allah is not mentioned. He brought this little girl to be able to eat, but I caught her hand. Then he brought this Bedouin to be able to eat, but I caught his hand too. By the One in whose Hand my soul is! His hand is in my grasp along with their hands." Then he mentioned the name of Allah, the Almighty, and ate.

قال حذيفة بن اليمان رضي الله عنهما : "كنا إذا حضرنا مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم طعامًا لم نضع أيدينا حتى يبدأ رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فيضع يده"؛ وذلك لكمال احترامهم للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ، فلا يضعون أيديهم في الطعام حتى يضع يده. فحضر مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ذات يوم طعاما فلمَّا بدءوا -أو قُدِّم لهم- جاءت جارية، يعني طفلة صغيرة "كأنما تدفع دفعًا"، يعني كأنها تركض، فأرادت أن تضع يدها في الطعام بدون أن تسمي الله؛ فأمسك النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بيدها، "ثم جاء أعرابي كذلك كأنما يدفع دفعًا"، فوضع يده في الطعام؛ فأمسك النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بيده، ثم أخبر النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أن هذا الأعرابي وهذه الجارية جاء بهما الشيطان، أي: وسوس لهما ودفعهما للمجيء؛ لأجل أن يستحِلَّ الطعام بهما إذا أكلا بدون تسمية. وهما قد يكونان معذورين لجهلهما؛ هذه لصغرها وهذا أعرابي، لكن الشيطان أتى بهما من أجل أنهما إذا أكلا بدون تسمية شارك في الطعام. ثم أقسم النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أن يد الشيطان مع أيديهما في يد النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم .
One day, Hudhayfah attended a meal with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and when they started to eat, or when food was served, a little girl came "as if she was being pushed forward" i.e. as if she was running, and she wanted to extend her hand to the food before mentioning Allah's Name. So the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) held her hand back. "Then a Bedouin also came as if he was being pushed forward" and extended his hand to the food. So, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) held his hand back. Then the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said that the young girl and the Bedouin were brought by the devil. That is he whispered to them and urged them to come in order to find a way to the food through them, in case they ate without mentioning Allah's name. The two of them could be excused due to their ignorance – the girl for her young age, and the man for being a Bedouin. However, the devil brought them because if they had eaten without mentioning Allah's Name, he would have shared the food with them. Then the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) swore that the devil's hand was with their two hands; all in the hand of the Prophet's hand.

احترام الصحابة لرسول الله -صلى الله عليه وسلم- وأدبهم معه. من آداب الطعام أن ينتظر الصغير حتى يبدأ الكبير والفاضل في الأكل. الشيطان يدفع بعض أهل الغفلة لأعمال هو يرتضيها؛ ليتمكن من الوصول إلى مبتغاه، ومن ذلك ما في هذا الحديث. أنه إذا جاء أحد يريد أن يأكل ولم تسمعه سمى فأمسك بيده حتى يُسَمِّي. وجوب تغيير المنكر ممن كان عالمًا، وتغيير المنكر باليد لمن كان قدرا أن هذا الحديث آية من آيات الرسول -صلى الله عليه وسلم-، حيث أعلمه الله -تعالى- بما حصل في هذه القصة. الشيطان لا يتمكن من طعام أهل الإيمان إلا إذا لم يذكر اسم الله عليه. أن الإنسان إذا أتى في أثناء الطعام فليسم ولا يقل سمى الأولون قبلي. استحباب تعليم الناس أدب الأكل والشرب في الإسلام. تأكد التسمية عند الأكل، والصحيح أن التسمية عند الأكل واجبة، وأنّ الإنسان إذا لم يسمِّ فهو عاصٍ لله عز وجل، وراض بأن يشاركه في طعامه أعدى عدو له، وهو الشيطان. استحباب القسم؛ لتوكيد الأمر عند السامع. الشيطان يأكل حقيقة ويشرب حقيقة، وله يدان يستخدمها في حاجته.
