2192 ذاك شيطان يقال له خِنْزَبٌ، فإذا أحسسته فتعوذ بالله منه، واتفل على يسارك ثلاثًا
That is Satan who is known as Khinzab. If you perceive his effect, seek refuge with Allah from him and spit three times to your left

عن عثمان بن أبي العاص أنه أتى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال: يا رسول الله، إن الشيطان قد حَالَ بيني وبين صلاتي وقراءتي يلبسها علي، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «ذاك شيطان يقال له خِنْزَبٌ، فإذا أحسسته فتعوذ بالله منه، واتفل على يسارك ثلاثًا» قال: ففعلت ذلك فأذهبه الله عني.

‘Uthmān ibn Abi al-‘Ās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I came to the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, Satan intervenes between me and my prayer and my recitation of the Qur'an, confounding me." The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That is Satan who is known as Khinzab. If you perceive his effect, seek refuge with Allah from him and spit three times to your left." I did that, and Allah caused him to depart from me.

أتى عثمان بن أبي العاص رضي الله عنه إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال: يا رسول الله إن الشيطان قد حجز بيني وبين صلاتي، ومنعني الخشوع فيها، وخلط علي قراءتي وشككني فيها، وهذا أمرٌ يَعرِض لكثيرٍ من الناس، فمن كان قلبه حيًّا أقلقه ذلك وبحث عن العلاج، فقال له رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: ذاك أي الذي يفعل بك ذلك هو شيطان يقال له خِنْزَبٌ، فإذا وجدت هذا وشعرت به فتعوذ أي اعتصم بالله منه، وقل: أعوذ بالله من خنزب. أو نحوه، وابصق على جهة يسارك؛ لأنه مقام الشيطان، ثلاث مرات، فإن كان عن يساره أحد أو خشي تلويث المسجد فإنه ينفث، أي يخرج من فمه هواءً معه ريق يسير، قال عثمان: ففعلت ما أمرني به النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فأذهبه الله عني.
‘Uthmān ibn Abi al-‘Ās (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, Satan intervenes between me and my prayer and undermines my khushū‘ therein. He confuses me and makes me doubtful about my recitation. Indeed, this happens to a lot of people. A person with a living heart will be worried by this and look for a remedy. In response, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: That is Satan who is doing this to you. He is known as Khinzab. If you perceive this, seek refuge with Allah from him, saying: I seek refuge with Allah from Khinzab, or the like. And spit three times to your left, where Satan exists. But if there is someone on his life side, or he fears he may soil the mosque, he can merely blow; that's letting air out of his mouth along with little saliva. ‘Uthmān said: I did as the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) commanded me to do, and Allah caused him to depart from me.

بيان أن الشيطان يتسلط على الإنسان في صلاته حتى يلبِّسَها عليه ويُشَكِّكه فيها. استحباب التعوذ من الشيطان عند وسوسته في الصلاة، مع التَّفْل عن اليسار ثلاثًا. بيان ما كان عليه الصحابة رضي الله عنهم من رجوعهم إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فيما يعتريهم من المشكلات حتى يحلها لهم؛ بل ولأُمَّته كلِّها. حياة قلوب الصحابة، وأنّ همَّهم الآخرة.
