2149 أيحب أحدكم إذا رجع إلى أهله أن يجد فيه ثلاث خَلِفَاتٍ عِظَامِ سِمَانٍ
Would any one of you like to find three large, fat, pregnant she-camels when he returns to his family?

عن أبي هريرة قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «أيحب أحدكم إذا رجع إلى أهله أن يجد فيه ثلاث خَلِفَاتٍ عِظَامِ سِمَانٍ؟» قلنا: نعم، قال: «فثلاث آيات يقرأ بهن أحدكم في صلاته خيرٌ له من ثلاث خلفات عظام سمان».

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Would any one of you like to find three large, fat, pregnant she-camels when he returns to his family?" We said: 'Yes.' He said: "Three verses that one of you recites in his prayer are better for him than three large, fat, pregnant she-camels."

يسأل النبيّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أصحابه: أيحب أحدكم إذا رجع إلى أهله، أي: إذا رجع إلى بيته حيث يوجَد أهلُه وأولاده، أن يجِد فيه ثلاث خَلِفات، والخَلِفة: هي الحامِل مِن النُّوق - وهي مِن أعَزّ أموال العَرب - كِبارٍ سمانٍ، أي: كثيرة الشَّحْم والدّسم، قلنا: نعم، قال: فثلاث آياتٍ يقرأ بهنّ أحدكم في صلاته خيرٌ له مِن ثلاث خَلِفات عظام سمان؛ لأن الآيات مِن الباقيات الصّالحات، وأمّا الخَلِفات فمِن الفانيات الزّائلات، وذِكْر الثَّلاث ليس تقييدًا، فأربع آيات خير مِن أربعِ خَلِفات، والخمس خير مِن الخمس وهكذا، وكلَّما زاد المصلي مِن قراءة الآيات في الصلاة زاد الأجر.
The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) asks his Companions: Would any one of you like to find three large, fat, pregnant she-camels when he returns to his family? These were among the most precious property among the Arabs. They said: Yes. He said: Three verses that one of you recites in his prayer are better for him than three large, fat, pregnant she-camels. This is because the verses are among the lasting good things, whereas the she-camels are among the transient things. The rule is not restricted to the number three, for four verses are better than four she-camels, and five are better than five, and so on. The more verses a person recites in prayer, the greater the reward.
