2078 أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عَقَّ عن الحسن والحسين كبشًا كبشًا
The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) slaughtered a ram for Al-Hasan and a ram for Al-Husayn for their ‘Aqīqah

عن ابن عباس «أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عَقَّ عن الحسن والحسين كَبْشًا كَبْشًا».

Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) slaughtered a ram for Al-Hasan and a ram for Al-Husayn for their ‘Aqīqah.

صحيح - ( رواه أبو داود ). Sahih/Authentic. [Abu Dawood]

في هذا الحديث يخبر ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما أنَّ النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ذبح عن الحسن والحسين لكل واحد منهما كبشاً كبشًا، أي كبشين، فدلَّ هذا على مشروعية العقيقة عن المولود.
Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) slaughtered two rams for Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn when they were born, for each one. This indicates that it is legally permissible to have an ‘Aqeedah for newborns.

أنَّ العقيقة من ذبائح القرب والعبادة، وهي شكر لله -تعالى- على نعمة تجدد الولد؛ من ذكر أو أنثى. استحباب العق عن الأبناء وكذلك عن البنات. أنه لا يشترط في العقيقة أن يتولاها الأب. أنَّ ذبح العقيقة أفضل من الصدقة بثمنها.
