1458 إنك إن اتَّبَعْتَ عَوْرَاتِ المسلمين أفْسَدْتَهُم، أو كِدْتَ أن تُفْسِدَهُم
If you pursue the faults of the Muslims, you will surely corrupt them, or you will nearly corrupt them

عن معاوية رضي الله عنه قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: «إنك إن اتَّبَعْتَ عَوْرَاتِ المسلمين أفْسَدْتَهُم، أو كِدْتَ أن تُفْسِدَهُم».

Mu‘āwiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) say: "If you pursue the faults of the Muslims, you will surely corrupt them, or you will nearly corrupt them.”

صحيح - ( رواه أبو داود ). Sahih/Authentic. [Abu Dawood]

إنك إن اتَّبَعْتَ عَوْرَاتِ المسلمين بالتَّجَسُسِ عن أحوالهم والبحث عن عيوبهم والتنقيب عن معايبهم التي يخفونها وجَاهَرتهم بها، فضحتهم وكشفت سترهم فقَلَّ حياؤهم، فيجترئون على ارتكاب أمثالها من المعاصي مُجَاهرة، بعد أن كانوا مُتَخَفِّين لا يعلم عنهم إلا الله تعالى .
Indeed, if you pursue the faults of the Muslims by spying on them, searching for their deficiencies, digging up their faults that they conceal, and publicly expose them, you will be disgracing them and removing their covering. By doing so, people will no longer feel ashamed to commit similar sins openly after they used to do them secretly with nobody knowing about them except Allah, the Almighty.

النهي عن التَّجَسُّس عن المسلمين، وتتبع عوراتهم؛ لأن ذلك يؤدي إلى إفسادهم وإصرارهم عليه. جواز التَّجَسُّس على الكفار المحاربين، فقد قيد النهي في هذا الحديث بالمسلمين، وقد كان النبي -صلى الله عليه وسلم- يرسل العيون ليخبروه بأحوال أهل الكفر قبل غزوهم.
