137 كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا قام من الليل يشوص فاه بالسواك
When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to get up at night, he would cleanse his mouth with the tooth-stick

عن حذيفة بن اليمان رضي الله عنهما قال: «كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا قَام من اللَّيل يُشُوصُ فَاهُ بِالسِّوَاك».

Hudhayfah ibn al-Yamān (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that when the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to get up at night, he would cleanse his mouth with the tooth-stick.

صحيح - ( متفق عليه ). Sahih/Authentic. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

من محبة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم للنظافة وكراهته للرائحة الكريهة أنه كان إذا قام من نوم الليل الطويل الذي هو مظنة تغير رائحة الفم دلك أسنانه صلى الله عليه وسلم بالسواك، ليقطع الرائحة، ولينشط بعد مغالبة النوم على القيام؛ لأنَّ من خصائص السواك أيضا التنبيه والتنشيط.
In his love of cleanliness and his dislike of unpleasant odor, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) would brush his teeth with the tooth-stick when he used to wake up from sleep after a long night, during which the mouth's odor is likely to change, in order to get rid of the odor and gain energy after having been overcome by sleep, because among the characteristics of using the tooth-stick are alertness and invigoration.

تأكيد مشروعية السواك بعد نوم الليل، وعلته أن النوم مقتض لتغير رائحة الفم، والسواك هو آلة تنظيفية، ولهذا فإنه يسن عند كل تغير. تأكد مشروعية السواك عند كل تغير كريه للفم، أخذا من المعنى السابق. مشروعية النظافة على وجه العموم، وأنها من سنة النبي -صلى الله عليه وسلم-، ومن الآداب السامية. التسوك في الفم كله، فيشمل: الأسنان، واللثة، واللسان.
