The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to strive to fast on Mondays and Thursdays

عن عائشة رضي الله عنها قالت: كانَ رسولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَتَحرّى صومَ الإثنينِ والخميسِ.

‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to strive to fast on Mondays and Thursdays.

تخبر أم المؤمنين عائشة رضي الله عنها عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه كان يجتهد ويتقصد صوم الاثنين والخميس؛ لأن الأعمال تعرض فيهما على الله تعالى ، فأحبَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أن يُعرض عمله وهو صائم، ولأنه تعالى يغفر فيهما لكل مسلم إلا المتشاحنين كما ورد في الأحاديث الأخرى.
The Mother of the Believers ‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to strive to fast on Mondays and Thursdays. This is because deeds are presented before Allah, the Exalted, on these two days, and the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) would love to have his deeds presented while he was fasting, and because Allah, the Exalted, would forgive the sins of every Muslim , except those who are quarreling with each other during these two days, as reported in other Hadīths.

استحباب صيام الاثنين والخميس لعظم فضلهما. يستحب تحري أوقات الإجابة والقبول، وملؤها بالطاعة والعبادة.
