1120 رغم أنف رجل ذكرت عنده فلم يصل علي
May the one who hears my name mentioned before him but does not invoke Allah's peace and blessings upon me be humiliated

عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله - صلى الله عليه وسلم: «رَغِمَ أنْفُ رجل ذُكِرْتُ عنْده فلم يُصَلِّ عَلَي».

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May the one who hears my name mentioned before him but does not invoke Allah's peace and blessings upon me be humiliated."

في هذا الحديث بيان أمر مهم وهو وجوب الصلاة على النبي على النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ، بحيث دعا -عليه الصلاة والسلام- على من سمع اسمه الكريم ولم يصل عليه أن يلتصق أنفه بالرغام وهو التراب، كناية على هوانه وحقارته لما ترك الصلاة على رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم مع قدرته على ذلك.
This Hadīth highlights an importance issue, which is the obligation of invoking Allah's peace and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah. It is mandatory to do so when his name is mentioned. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated Allah that the one who does not invoke Allah's peace and blessings upon him whenever his name is mentioned before him be humiliated. He expressed this by using a metaphor, asking Allah to rub his nose in the dust, in reference to his baseness and meanness for refraining from invoking Allah's peace and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah although he is able to do so.

وجوب الصلاة والسلام على الرسول –صلى الله عليه وسلم- إذا ذكر. ذم من لم يُصل عليه -عليه الصلاة والسلام- إذا ذُكِر عنده.
