عن عبد الله بن مسعود رضي الله عنه قال: سألت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أيُّ الذنب أعظم؟ قال: «أن تجعل لله نِدًّا، وهو خَلَقَكَ» قلت: ثم أَيُّ؟ قال: «ثم أن تقتل ولدك خَشْيَةَ أن يأكل معك» قلت: ثم أَيُّ؟ قال: «ثم أن تُزَانِي حَلِيْلَةَ جَارِكَ». ‘Abdullāh ibn Mas‘ūd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I asked the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him): "Which sin is greatest?" He said: "That you set an equal to Allah while He alone created you." I said: "What is next?" He said: "That you kill your child lest he should share your food with you." I said: "What is next?" He said: "That you commit adultery with your neighbor's wife."
