عن أسيد بن حضير وأنس بن مالك رضي الله عنهما أنَّ رجُلاً من الأنصار، قال: يا رسول الله، ألاَ تَستَعمِلُنِي كما استَعمَلت فُلانًا، فقال: «إِنَّكُم سَتَلقَون بَعدِي أَثَرَة فَاصبِرُوا حَتَّى تَلقَونِي على الحَوض». Usayd ibn Hudayr and Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with both of them) reported: A man from the Ansār said: "O Messenger of Allah, will you not appoint me as you appointed so-and-so?" He replied: "You will experience favoritism after me, so have patience until you meet me at the Basin."
