عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما مرفوعاً: «إنَّ الرَّحِمَ شِجْنَةٌ آخذةٌ بحُجْزَةِ الرَّحمنِ، يَصِلُ مَن وَصَلَها، ويقطعُ مَن قَطَعَها». Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported in the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Rahim (kinship ties) is hanging on to the Hujzah of The Most Merciful; He maintains ties with whoever maintains it (the Rahim) and severs ties with whoever severs it."
