عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رضي الله عنهما قال: «قال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم لجبريل: «مَا يَمْنَعُك أَنْ تَزُورَنَا أَكْثَر مِمَّا تَزُورَنَا؟» فنزلت: (وَمَا نَتَنَزَّل إِلاَّ بِأَمْرِ رَبِّكَ لَهُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيدِينَا وَمَا خَلْفَنَا وَمَا بَينَ ذَلِك ). Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said to Jibrīl: "What makes you not visit us more than you do?" Thereupon, the following verse was revealed: {And we [angels] descend not except by the order of your Lord. To Him belongs what is before us and what is behind us and what is in between.} [Maryam: 64]
